U = I20; quantivalence II. x metal occurring in pitchblende and other minerals. The nitrate, a freely soluble, astringent salt, and an irritant poison, is used in diabetes and as a throat-spray. Dose gr. ss-v. The oxid is employed to give a fluorescent yellow to glass.
