The divalent radical: S2 as occurring, for example, in sulphuryl chloride SOgClJ, which can be prepared by the direct union of chlorine and sulphur dioxide. It is a colourless liquid which boils at 70 degrees C. and is decomposed by water, producing hydrochloric and sulphuric acids.
