Atomic weight, 1409; sp, gr. 64754. A little known and extremely rare element of the cerium group occurring in the earth didyma and monazte sand. It has been isolated by the electrolysis of its anhydrous chlorido. It decomposes water, melts at 940 degrees C., and gives two oxides, one of greenishwhite colour, and another which is nearly black 7. The salts, including a chloride 3,8II20, are green 111 colour.
