What is METHYL ACETATE?

Colorless, fragrant, volatile liquid, of sp. gr. 09244 and boilingpoint 540 C.; soluble in water, alcohol, and ether; made by heating methyl alcohol and acetic acid in presence of sulphuric acid and distilling. It is used as a solvent, in perfumery, and making extracts.
