What is MAIZE OIL?

The germs of the maize plant yield about 12 per cent, of corn oil, constituting a byproduct in the preparation of maize, starch. It is golden yellow lii colour, and is composed chiefly of the glycerides of oleic, linolic, and palmitic acids. Its sp. gr. >s 0920 to 0*923, refractive index 14730 to t4735, saponification value 188 to 193, and iodine value in to 123. It is an edible oil, and is also used for lubricating and leatherdressing, etc.
