What is LYMPHANGIOMA?

A dilated or varicose condition or tumor of the lymphatic vessels. L. capillare varicosum. Synonym of L. circumscriptum. L. cavernosum. Synonym of L. circumscriptum. L. circumscriptum, Lymphan- gieclodes; Lupus lymphaticus, a very rare disease of the skin occurring in early life. It is marked by the formation of straw-yellow vesicles, deeply situated in the skin, with thick and tense walls, and connected with the lymphatics. Their usual seats are the shoulders, trunk, face, neck, thighs, and arms. The disease gradually spreads and tends to recur. Its cause is unknown. L. tuberosum multiplex, a very rare disease of the skin, probably congenital, characterized by the formation of large, brownish-red papules or tubercles, the size of lentils, not arranged in groups or clusters, but scattered indiscriminately over the trunk. They dip down into the subcutaneous tissue, and both feel and look solid, but on section they prove to be made up of greatly dilated lymphatics.
