Extracted from the kernels of the cohune palm, which grows in the British Honduras, Guatemala, and Mexico. It is a yellowish, semiliquid fat, which melts at i8 degrees to 20 degrees C., has a sp. gr. o868, saponification value 252, and iodine value 11 to 13.7. It is soluble in ether and benzol, and is used n candle and soap making, also for cooking purposes.
