x limpid, yellowish to yellowishgreen essential oil distilled from the grass of a species of Andropogdn, which yields from 1 to 1 per cent. It contains geraniol, citronellal, and methyl eugenol; is soluble in alcohol, ether, etc.; has a sp. gr. of oy, refractive index ivjihi to 1*4830, and optical rotation 50 to 210. It is used in the perfumery trade, for scenting soap, and as an insectifuge. The Ceylon oil is of much the same character and is distilled from the fruit of Tetranthem citrata.
