Made in the Philippine Islands from the fruits of the candleberry tree. The kernels yield an oil making up 637 per cent, of their weight. It is liquid at 18 degrees C., of pale yellow colour, has a sp. gr. of 0925, saponification value of 190 to 195, iodine value 136 to 140, and is used as an illuminant and in soapmaking, but is not edible on account of its purgative properties.
